Poti Malal

The Poti Malal Tourist Stop is located in the Poti Malal River Valley, 90 km southwest of the city of Malargüe. From Malargüe, take National Route 40 south to the town of Bardas Blancas, where you take the detour towards National Route 145 to the National Gendarmerie post. From this point, take a consolidated gravel road, traveling 12 km between the river and mountains to the Poti Malal Tourist Stop.

The toponym “Potí Malal” in “mapuzugun”, the Mapuche language, means Great Stone Corral.

For lovers of fly fishing, Malargüe has become an obligatory destination. The Atuel, Barrancas, Tordillo, Poti-Malal, Chico, Salado and Arroyo Valenzuela rivers are abundantly populated, especially with salmonids. Malargüe has a total of more than 500 kilometers of alluvial and meltwater rivers that have an excellent capture capacity, among which species such as Rainbow Trout, Brown Trout, Fontinalis (brook trout), Creole (or Perch) and silversides stand out.
